Mavoko School Named Best in Africa at Childnet Competition

We are thrilled to announce that our team at Mavoko Comprehensive School has achieved Special Recognition in the International category and has been named the Best in Africa in the 2024 Childnet Film Competition! Our film, Online Safety—Online Scams, was selected as the staff pick, showcasing our students’ incredible talent and hard work on a global stage.

Commitment to nurturing creativity and critical thinking among our students was pivotal in guiding them throughout this journey. Under her mentorship, our learners were inspired to explore a pressing issue that affects many in today’s digital landscape: online safety.

At Teach For Kenya, we aim to ensure every child has access to quality education, empowering them to become proactive agents of change in their communities. We believe in fostering an environment where students can engage with real-world challenges and develop the skills to navigate an increasingly complex world. The Childnet Film Competition provided our students with an invaluable platform.

To express their thoughts on online safety while honing their creative and collaborative skills.

Through the film, our students tackled the critical issue of online scams, delivering essential advice that resonates with their peers. Addressing this topic raised awareness and demonstrated their ability to think critically and advocate for themselves and others. This aligns perfectly with our mission at Teach For Kenya: to cultivate informed and responsible citizens equipped to tackle contemporary challenges.

Participating in this competition allowed our students to experience the power of teamwork and creativity. They worked diligently, brainstorming ideas, scripting, filming, and editing their project. The collaborative process built their confidence and strengthened their ability to communicate effectively—a skill that will serve them well in future endeavors.
